Late Spring to Early Autumn (May–October)
The best time to visit Aomori depends on your interests:
Spring (April-June) is excellent for cherry blossoms and pleasant weather.
Summer (July-August) is ideal for the Nebuta Festival (early August) and outdoor activities like hiking and cycling–though it can be hot and humid.
Autumn (September-October) offers beautiful fall foliage, making it perfect for scenic drives and hot springs.
Winter (November-March) is for snow sports, experiencing snow monsters, and enjoying unique winter festivals.
Some of our favorite hotels in Japan are the smaller boutique hotels in great locations that have between 20 and 100 rooms. These can fill up well in advance of the bigger hotels that have hundreds of rooms…so plan accordingly.
It’s best to book at least 4 to 6 months in advance to ensure availability at many of the hotels.
